Rapid Reaction: Yankees 9, Rays 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — And the hits just keep on coming, 11 in the game by the Yankees and one more to the gut of the team when Curtis Granderson, who missed the first 38 games of the season with a broken right forearm after being hit by a pitch, got plunked again in the fifth inning and suffered a broken left pinkie, casting a deep pall over what should have been a joyous 9-4 victory. And just moments after that announcement, the Yankees suffered another scare when David Phelps caught a line drive off the bat of Ben Zobrist on what appeared to be his right forearm, and was removed from the game. Here Is The Home Alex Rodriguez Just Sold For $30 Million

Alex Rodriguez reportedly just sold his Miami Beach mansion for $30 million, and it looks like it is worth every penny.  According to numerous sources, Alex had purchased the home for a mere $7.4 million in 2010.  I am definitely not a math major, but that seems like a decent return on investment.  The full listing is available on Sotheby’s, and you can take a tour of the digs below if you would like to see just how ridiculously nice the house is. Yankees’ Mark Teixeira could begin rehab assignment Tuesday

The final hurdle for Mark Teixeira to clear is a successful completion of a minor league rehab assignment.  He has been taking some swings during extended spring training.  This has allowed him to bat from both sides of the plate as he wanted, but now it’s time for Teixeira to face live game action. According to Eric Boland of Newsday, Teixeira could begin  rehab assignment as soon as next Tuesday. Word is Teixeira, who has hit in sim games this week & took BP today in Tampa, could be headed to Double A Trenton Tues for rehab assignment — Erik Boland (@eboland11) May 23, 2013 If Teixeira does in fact do so, he could be back with the Yankees by the first week of June.  That would be a substantial boost for the already successful Yankees.  New York is currently in first place in the American League East.  Teixeira should only serve to help them maintain that first place spot. The Yankees have been without Teixeira for the entire season so far.  He suffered a sev… Continue reading

First Pitch: First ‘big’ series of 2013

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — There is no longer any argument that the Yankees, at 28-18 and atop the AL East by a game despite having nearly a dozen players on the disabled list, have overperformed. And one could certainly make the argument that the Tampa Bay Rays, who a year ago had the same 28-18 record and led the division by a game, have underperformed, thanks in large part to their 5-10 start. But one thing no one can dispute is that despite how well the Yankees have played through their adversity, once again no one is running away with the AL East, which remains as tight as Tom Jones’ pants.
