New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner got a third opinion on his injured right arm on Thursday, and the diagnosis of a strained elbow was confirmed. Dr. Timothy Kremcheck agreed with Dr. James Andrews’ earlier recommendation that Gardner will need three to four weeks of additional rest to recover from the injury, which also includes a bruise and joint inflammation. Gardner received a platelet-rich plasma and cortisone injection Thursday. Gardner has been on the disabled list since April 17. He tried to rehab the injury twice but was shut down both times.
